Puharich’s channeling operation — the documented body around the belief in a Council of Nine steering humanity.¹²

Documented core

Andrija Puharich founded the Round Table Foundation of Electrobiology in 1948 at Glen Cove, Maine, a parapsychology research outfit. In a séance there in December 1952, conducted through Dr. D. G. Vinod, an intelligence calling itself “the Nine” first spoke — the contact that would run through Puharich’s work for decades. The operation later reconstituted as “Lab Nine” at Ossining, New York (c. 1972–78), where Puharich investigated Uri Geller (met 1971; tested at SRI 1972–73) and gathered the participant network around the Nine sessions — Phyllis Schlemmer, Sir John Whitmore, Gene Roddenberry, and the young psychics Puharich called the “Space Kids.” The transcripts became, decades on, The Only Planet of Choice (1993).

Under the project’s evidence bar for the esoteric current, Puharich’s firsthand accounts are credible primary evidence for what was done and believed — the séances, the foundation, the belief in the Nine. The operation itself is documented.

Held-open / discard

That “the Nine” are a real discarnate/extraterrestrial council is belief-data, held as the claim it is, never asserted true. The causal readings are discarded under S-5: Roddenberry’s involvement is documented attendance and a shelved screenplay, not the Nine directing Star Trek; and Puharich’s own documented biography — his U.S. Army Edgewood Arsenal posting (1953–55) and a 1952 Pentagon paper on ESP in psychological warfare — is a documented connection kept rigidly apart from the attributed, unverified claims that the Foundation was a CIA front or the Nine a psy-op (chronological proximity only; no funding records; the sources raising it flag it unverified). No MKUltra edge is drawn on this evidence (R-3).

Role in the thesis

The esoteric-dispersal register (map-node 4.3): the institutional face of the channeled “Nine” — a documented operation built around the belief in a hidden council guiding humanity toward a planned end. A symptom and an articulation of the century’s appetite for a guiding elect; never a cause, and never a chain into any institution.
